Everything happens for a reason

Hey! I'm Steph and I am the proud mother of two beautiful little girls. I am also the proud founder of SK Sleep Coaching (formerly known as Sleeping Beauties) - my third baby and true passion in life.

When my eldest was born, my husband and I were unexpectedly thrown into months of sleepless nights. For someone who prides herself on being organized and prepared for everything, it felt like we'd lost all control. If you are visiting my site, you probably understand this all too well.

Knowing what I know now, that my daughter had reflux, as well as obstructive sleep apnea, it is no wonder she had so much trouble sleeping those first few months. I look back and am glad I did what I needed to do to get her the sleep she needed, even if that meant getting up with her on average eight times a night (giving me about 1-2 hour stretches of sleep for the first seven months of her life) and holding her for all her naps. With chronic sleep deprivation and only 15 minutes at a time to myself during the day, I quickly developed severe post-partum anxiety. I read every sleep book I could get my hands on, which probably didn't help the anxiety. I was not a functioning individual, and worst yet, I was not the mother I knew I could be for my daughter.

I refer to this time in my life as "The Fog". It wasn't until my husband and I decided to contact a sleep coach that the fog lifted. My daughter went from needing me to help her get back to sleep almost hourly, to sleeping twelve and a half hours STRAIGHT in her crib, and taking two long naps during the day. Our lives were forever changed.

It was at that moment that I knew I wanted to help other families who were needlessly suffering because they just didn't know where to start.

To give parents the tools necessary to navigate through this period filled with constant change and to support them along the way.

To create a non-judgmental community where families feel comfortable discussing their sleep related concerns and know that when they reach out for support, it will be met with empathy, gentle advice and guidance for realistic sleep expectations.
